Digital Television services
Global management consulting and technology services company Accenture bolstered its digital video services offerings Tuesday, announcing an agreement to buy Dublin-based S3 TV Technology Services.
Accenture ACN, +0.87% said the acquisition, which includes S3’s testing platform and video consulting capabilities, will help it work with media clients to develop sophisticated digital systems and experiences.
“Now it’s not just about delivering a stream, but providing a complex and sophisticated user experience, ” said Youssef Tuma, Accenture’s chief strategist for digital video, in an interview Tuesday. “And there’s a big push on speed to market. It’s very much like how Internet companies' have operated, and traditional media needs to be able to operate with that level of efficiency while maintaining the quality content of broadcast cable.”
Accenture helped develop, launch and deliver online video content and platforms for one of India’s largest broadcasters, Star India, when it launched hotstar, and for the U.K.’s BT sports, which has exclusive rights to the UEFA Champions League and Europa League tournaments, according to the Guardian.
