How to Install Digital Optical cable?

The telegraph and telephone were two inventions that changed the course of human history. They allowed people to communicate over long distances, making life easier and propelling the world into a newer, more modern age. Today, people still use the same kinds of copper wires that powered the first telegraphs and telephones. This technology is old, unreliable, and as the needs of people grow, will soon be obsolete. Copper wires are making way for the next new technology, namely, fiber optics. Fiber optic cables are used in a variety of ways, from…

Digital Optical audio Switch

Someone recommended an automatic 2 input optical audio switcher in one of the original playbar threads. It was from monoprice and the link is dead, and a search on monoprice makes it look like it s discontinued with nothing else up in its place. I m buying a new TV soon but based on what research I ve done, it s impossible to be certain any TV I buy will have proper 5.1 optical switching. 99% chance it will not have it in spite of what people casually report on the internet. So, I ll need to buy an optical audio switcher. I need to route at least…

Optical audio Digital cable to 3.5mm jack

The first part is yes, you can connect a 5.1 surround sound system to an analogue stereo headphone output (which is what your 3.5mm stereo jack socket is). The second part is tricky, as it depends on what the TV manufacturer has decided to to with the MPEG2 or Dolby Digital signal riding alongside the picture of a broadcast. The TV manufacturer can choose to present a simple down-mix of the 5.1 information, as a stereo, 2.0 signal. In which case, as others have stated, you would not fully benefit from any subsequent decoding, as the extra centre…

Fiber Optical Digital audio cable

Toslink, FO-5 and EIA-J Most modern audio equipment uses a digital format to record and play audio. CD optical disc players and MP3 devices deliver the digital format to a user in analog form. But when transferring audio content between devices, the best way to preserve quality is to send it as digital signals through a digital-audio interface. For this purpose, optical fiber, compared to coaxial wire, is superior because it s immune to electrical interference that can deteriorate the quality of the digital signal. IFO offers a diverse line of optical…

Computer stopped booting up on day one! Posted by: Dana from: on After talking to some Geek folks I decided to purchase an ASUS Computer - none in stock, so it was sent to my home (not a problem). I received it and installed about half of the software that I purchased at Best Buy - and the computer suddenly had a boot up issue. I had to bring the machine back to the store. The Geek squad has had it for about a day. The initial manual reset did not work, so I was just told that they will have to do a factory reset . I guess that means the software…

Optical Digital audio out cable

The name might be an oxymoron, like the jazz waltz Ugly Beauty, but there s nothing off-key about transposing electrical signals to light waves to deliver powerful, high-quality sound. It s simply another interval in the evolution of audio, as progressive as Thelonious Monk s compositions. From mono to stereo to surround sound, or from analog to digital to high-def, the beat goes on. Once upon a time, TVs and stereos were just heavy pieces of wooden furniture. They were self-contained, and their inputs or outputs were limited to antenna hookups…
