Connecting Your HDTV to Your Spectrum Receiver (Cable Box)


There are two ways to connect your Spectrum high-definition (HD) Spectrum Receiver (cable box) to your HDTV. No matter which method you use, you'll need to do the following:

  1. Connect your Spectrum Receiver's power cord to the back of the Spectrum Receiver and plug it into a wall outlet.
  2. Connect coaxial cable between the cable wall outlet and the CABLE IN port on the HD Spectrum Receiver.

Now, you'll need to determine which connection method you'll use to connect your HD Spectrum Receiver to your HDTV. For best results, we recommend using an HDMI cable for your connection.

Plug one end of the HDMI cable into your Spectrum Receiver and the other into your TV. Use your TV remote to change the input/source setting on the TV to the proper HDMI source. Your connection will look something like this:

Component Cables

If you don't have and HDMI port on your television, you can use the 5-color connectors, known as component cables, to connect your HD Spectrum Receiver to your HDTV.

HDMIConnect the component cables to your HDTV and your Spectrum Receiver. Be sure to match the colors of the cables to the colors of the inputs.

Now that your HD Spectrum Receiver is connected to your HDTV, you can learn how to activate your HD Spectrum Receiver. You only need to activate your receiver if this is a new self-installation. You must do this before you can view programming. Also, you should refer to your TV manual to set up the display of high definition and standard definition programming.
